Guadalupe Calixtro, CF-SLP

Guadalupe is a Los Angeles native who discovered her passion for speech-language pathology at the age of six. Inspired by the kindness and creativity of her brother’s therapist, she witnessed firsthand the power of play-based intervention and set a lifelong goal to support children in the same way. She turned that dream into reality at California State University, Northridge, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Disorders and Sciences.

As a Clinical Fellow, Guadalupe believes that growth happens most naturally when a child feels relaxed and heard. Whether she’s getting the “wiggles out” on the monkey bars, blowing bubbles, or leading a chorus of “The Wheels on the Bus,” she prioritizes building a strong, comfortable bond with every child. She specializes in using multimodal communication to help kids reach their functional language goals, finding the most reward in those breakthrough moments when a child uses a new word for the first time.

When she’s not at the clinic, Guadalupe is likely at her sewing machine; having mastered skirts and bags, she is currently tackling the challenge of tailoring a matching jacket set. A true fan of the “LA experience,” she loves thrifting on West Magnolia Blvd in Burbank, supporting local animal shelters, and attending live show tapings to meet new people and learn about their unique career paths. Those close to her know her as funny, kind, and deeply understanding, traits she brings into every session at Uplift.
